"I'm proud of you,"
he says, pulling away from a hug I hadn’t anticipated.
“What do you mean?” Agitated already, I don’t have the patience to figure out what he means, without asking first. The want to care escapes me.
“You have furniture,” pointedly acknowledging the suede couch we were only moments ago sitting on, he chuckles.
Furniture. Right. When this began, seven months...

Mother Nature must hate us.
The thought passes through my mind as I am skimming the morning paper.
Droughts. Earthquakes. Fires. Floods. Hurricanes. Tornadoes.
Destruction.
Death.
But. who would dare to blame the mother of the earth? After all, her inhabitants raped her of her pride and beauty. Man used her resources for personal gain, not for the benefit of mankind.
Perhaps, in pain, Mother Nature is simply striking...

Several people asked me today if I had any tips for newbies attending the shows. Well naturally….

Except that the intervals between my highs and lows are getting shorter, more intense, and the more I talk about what’s wrong, the worse it feels. I never know what to say exactly because my thoughts are so far down the rabbit hole, I...

We pride ourselves on being difficult, complicated...
But the second you wash off the layers of makeup, we’re just like everyone else.

Everyone asks me how you are.
Okay, maybe not everyone, just the part of the world that doesn’t know we don’t talk, the people who don’t know that the last thing you said to me was to “move on,” the ones that I haven’t told that all I said was “okay,” before hanging up. You know: your ex-girlfriends, people I run into at the Co-Op, your friend’s mother.
I take it in...

I'm told absence makes the heart grow fonder.
But right now all I feel is indifference.
“I can’t have a sexual relationship right now.”
I’ve stared at that text message a dozen times, and I still can’t piece it together.
Because we were already sleeping together. Because the sex was great. Because I don’t want an actual relationship. Because you admitted you slept with someone else, only to find out...
Print will never die. There’s no substitute for the feel of an actual book. I...
